KINGDOM THINGS

Returns, Refunds & Exchanges Policy

Effective Date: 5 September 2026

At Kingdom Things, we want you to be happy with your purchase. We carefully inspect and package our products before dispatch.

This Returns, Refunds & Exchanges Policy applies to purchases made through the Kingdom Things online store and is intended to comply with applicable South African consumer-protection laws, including the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 ("CPA") and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 ("ECTA").

Nothing in this policy is intended to limit, exclude or waive any consumer right that cannot legally be limited, excluded or waived under South African law.

1. YOUR STATUTORY CONSUMER RIGHTS

Nothing in this policy affects your rights under South African law.

Where applicable, consumers have rights relating to defective, unsafe, unsuitable or incorrectly supplied goods.

Under section 56 of the CPA, goods carry an implied warranty of quality. Where goods fail to meet the applicable requirements of the CPA, a consumer may, within six months of delivery, return the goods at the supplier's risk and expense and may elect to have the goods repaired, replaced or refunded, subject to the requirements and exceptions provided by law.

Kingdom Things will not attempt to contract out of these statutory rights.

2. ONLINE / ELECTRONIC PURCHASES AND COOLING-OFF RIGHTS

Where the statutory cooling-off provisions of the ECTA apply to your transaction, you may have the right to cancel the transaction without giving a reason and without penalty within the period prescribed by law.

Under section 44 of the ECTA, a qualifying consumer transaction for goods may generally be cancelled within seven days after receipt of the goods.

The consumer may be responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods where the law permits this.

Where payment has already been made and a statutory ECTA cancellation applies, the refund will be processed in accordance with the time period prescribed by law.

Nothing in this policy removes or restricts any cooling-off right that applies to your transaction.

3. CHANGE-OF-MIND RETURNS

In addition to your statutory rights, Kingdom Things voluntarily accepts eligible change-of-mind returns within 14 days of delivery.

To qualify for a change-of-mind return:

  • The item must be unused and in its original condition.

  • The item must not be damaged, altered, washed, worn or otherwise used.

  • Original labels, tags and packaging should be intact where reasonably possible.

  • All accessories, parts and items supplied with the product must be returned.

  • Proof of purchase must be provided.

  • The return must be requested within 14 days of delivery.

Kingdom Things reserves the right to refuse a voluntary change-of-mind return where the product does not meet these requirements.

This section does not apply to statutory returns for defective, unsafe, unsuitable or incorrectly supplied goods.

4. PRODUCTS THAT MAY NOT BE RETURNED FOR CHANGE OF MIND

For hygiene, safety, personalisation or other legitimate reasons, certain products may not qualify for a voluntary change-of-mind return where the law permits such exclusion.

This may include:

  • Personalised or customised products;

  • Products made specifically to a customer's specifications;

  • Products that have been used, worn, washed, altered or damaged after delivery;

  • Products returned without required components or accessories;

  • Products where the nature of the product makes return inappropriate for health or hygiene reasons after opening or use; and

  • Any other category of goods that applicable law permits a supplier to exclude from a voluntary change-of-mind return.

These exclusions do not remove any statutory rights a consumer may have where the product is defective, unsafe, incorrectly supplied or otherwise covered by applicable consumer-protection law.

5. INCORRECT ITEM RECEIVED

If you receive an item that is different from what you ordered, please contact Kingdom Things as soon as reasonably possible.

We may request photographs of:

  • The item received;

  • The packaging;

  • The shipping label; and

  • Any relevant product or order information.

Where Kingdom Things supplied the incorrect product, we will arrange an appropriate remedy in accordance with applicable law.

Where appropriate, Kingdom Things may arrange collection or provide instructions for returning the incorrect item.

6. DAMAGED GOODS

If your order arrives visibly damaged, please notify us as soon as reasonably possible and preferably within 48 hours of delivery.

Please provide photographs showing:

  • The damaged product;

  • The outer packaging;

  • The shipping label; and

  • Any visible damage to the packaging.

The 48-hour notification period is intended to assist us in investigating courier and transit damage. It does not remove or reduce any statutory consumer rights that may apply to defective or damaged goods.

Where the damage constitutes a defect or otherwise gives rise to a statutory remedy, Kingdom Things will deal with the matter in accordance with applicable law.

7. DEFECTIVE OR FAULTY PRODUCTS

If you believe that a product is defective, unsafe, not of acceptable quality, unsuitable for its intended purpose, or does not comply with the applicable description or requirements, please contact us.

Where section 56 of the CPA applies, a consumer may return qualifying defective goods within six months of delivery at the supplier's risk and expense.

Depending on the circumstances and the consumer's lawful election, the remedy may include:

  • Repair;

  • Replacement; or

  • Refund.

A product may not qualify as defective merely because the consumer has changed their mind, no longer wants the product, ordered the wrong item, or expected a different preference, colour or appearance where the product supplied conforms to its description.

Normal wear and tear, misuse, accidental damage, improper care, unauthorised alterations or damage caused contrary to product instructions may affect a claim where permitted by law.

Kingdom Things will assess each matter fairly and in accordance with the CPA and other applicable laws.

8. ITEMS DAMAGED THROUGH MISUSE

Kingdom Things is not responsible for damage caused after delivery through:

  • Misuse;

  • Neglect;

  • Accidental damage;

  • Improper storage;

  • Failure to follow care or usage instructions;

  • Unauthorised modification or alteration;

  • Normal wear and tear; or

  • Use for a purpose for which the product was not intended.

This does not limit any statutory consumer protection that cannot legally be excluded.

9. SALE, CLEARANCE AND DISCOUNTED ITEMS

Products purchased during sales, promotions or clearance events remain subject to all applicable statutory consumer rights.

A discounted price does not, by itself, remove a consumer's rights relating to defective, unsafe or incorrectly supplied goods.

Where a product is sold in a specific condition and the law permits that condition to be relied upon, the condition will be clearly disclosed before purchase.

10. EXCHANGES

Where permitted, Kingdom Things may offer an exchange for another item, size, colour or variation.

An exchange is subject to:

  • Product availability;

  • The returned product meeting the applicable return requirements; and

  • Any applicable price difference.

Where an exchange is not legally required, Kingdom Things may offer an exchange as a goodwill option rather than as a statutory entitlement.

Where a consumer is entitled to a refund, repair or replacement under applicable law, this voluntary exchange process does not replace that statutory remedy.

11. RETURN SHIPPING COSTS

For a voluntary change-of-mind return, the customer is responsible for the reasonable direct cost of returning the product to Kingdom Things, unless Kingdom Things agrees otherwise.

Where the return is required because:

  • Kingdom Things supplied the incorrect product;

  • The product is defective or unsafe;

  • The product does not comply with applicable statutory requirements; or

  • Another circumstance makes Kingdom Things responsible for the return under applicable law,

Kingdom Things will bear the applicable return cost to the extent required by law.

We will not require a customer to pay return costs where doing so would unlawfully limit a statutory consumer right.

12. REFUNDS

Approved refunds will generally be made using the same payment method used for the original transaction, where reasonably possible and subject to payment-provider requirements.

Refunds may take additional time to reflect in the customer's bank account or payment method after Kingdom Things has processed the refund.

Where South African law prescribes a particular refund period, that statutory period will apply.

A refund will not be withheld merely because Kingdom Things prefers to issue store credit where the consumer is legally entitled to a monetary refund.

13. RETURN CONDITION AND INSPECTION

All returned products may be inspected before a voluntary return, exchange or goodwill refund is approved.

Inspection may include checking:

  • Product condition;

  • Signs of use;

  • Damage;

  • Missing parts or accessories;

  • Product packaging;

  • Serial numbers or identifying marks where applicable; and

  • Whether the returned product corresponds with the original order.

Inspection is intended to prevent abuse of the returns process and does not remove any statutory consumer rights.

14. HOW TO REQUEST A RETURN

To request a return, please contact Kingdom Things using the contact details displayed on our website.

Please provide:

  1. Your full name;

  2. Order number;

  3. Date of purchase;

  4. Product name;

  5. Reason for the return;

  6. Photographs or other evidence where reasonably requested; and

  7. Your preferred remedy where applicable.

Do not send products back without first receiving return instructions from Kingdom Things, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

15. RETURN ADDRESS

Returns must be sent to the return address provided by Kingdom Things after your return request has been reviewed.

For security and tracking purposes, customers should use a trackable delivery service when returning goods where they are responsible for the return.

Kingdom Things is not responsible for returns lost in transit where the customer was responsible for arranging the return and did not use an appropriate delivery or tracking service, subject always to applicable law.

16. FRAUDULENT OR ABUSIVE RETURN ACTIVITY

Kingdom Things reserves the right to investigate suspected fraudulent, dishonest or abusive use of the returns process.

Examples may include:

  • Returning a different product from the one purchased;

  • Returning a product that has been deliberately damaged;

  • Submitting false information;

  • Repeated fraudulent claims;

  • Attempting to obtain a refund while retaining the product; or

  • Other dishonest conduct.

Kingdom Things may refuse voluntary goodwill returns where legally permitted and may take appropriate action where fraud or unlawful conduct is suspected.

Nothing in this section limits a consumer's legitimate statutory rights.

17. PRODUCTS LOST OR STOLEN AFTER DELIVERY

Once an order has been successfully delivered to the address supplied by the customer, Kingdom Things is generally not responsible for loss or theft occurring after delivery, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Customers should ensure that delivery instructions are accurate and that someone is available to receive the package where necessary.

If tracking records indicate that a parcel was delivered but you did not receive it, please contact Kingdom Things promptly so that we can investigate the matter with the relevant courier.

18. ORDERS THAT CANNOT BE FULFILLED

If Kingdom Things is unable to fulfil an order because a product has become unavailable or cannot reasonably be supplied, we will notify the customer and provide the applicable remedy required by law.

Where a refund is due, the refund will be processed in accordance with applicable law.

19. NO WAIVER OF CONSUMER RIGHTS

Nothing in this Returns, Refunds & Exchanges Policy is intended to:

  • Exclude any consumer right that cannot legally be excluded;

  • Avoid any obligation imposed on Kingdom Things by South African law;

  • Prevent a consumer from exercising a lawful statutory remedy;

  • Limit the six-month implied warranty where section 56 of the CPA applies; or

  • Limit any applicable cooling-off right under ECTA.

If any provision of this policy is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, that provision will be interpreted or severed to the extent necessary, while the remaining provisions continue to apply.

20. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

Kingdom Things may update this Returns, Refunds & Exchanges Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our business, products, procedures or applicable law.

The version published on our website at the time of your purchase will generally apply to that transaction, subject to any mandatory legal requirements that apply.

IMPORTANT

This policy is intended to provide a clear returns framework for Kingdom Things while preserving mandatory rights under South African law. It is not intended to replace legal advice, and Kingdom Things should have the final version reviewed by a South African attorney or qualified consumer-law professional before relying on it as its formal legal policy.
